Cheng Hao

Cheng Hao (1032–1085) was a prominent Chinese philosopher during the Song dynasty and is recognized as one of the early figures of Neo-Confucianism. Along with his brother Cheng Yi, he played a significant role in the development of the Cheng-Zhu school of Neo-Confucian thought. Cheng Hao is known for emphasizing the importance of the “principle” (li) and the “investigation of things” (gewu), as well as the idea that human nature is inherently good. His teachings influenced later philosophers, including Zhu Xi, who further developed Neo-Confucianism.
