Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855) was an English novelist and poet, best known for her classic novel “Jane Eyre.” Published in 1847 under the pen name Currer Bell, “Jane Eyre” is celebrated for its strong and complex heroine, its exploration of themes such as class, sexuality, religion, and feminism, and its innovative narrative style. Charlotte was the eldest of the Brontë sisters, including Emily and Anne, who were also accomplished writers. Her works are characterized by their emotional depth and vivid characters, and she remains an important figure in English literature.
